In this work, we introduced ultrasonic-assisted acid treatments and their effects on hydrogen storage capacity of the graphites. Surface properties including functional groups and surface potentials were investigated by XPS and zeta potential measurements. It was found that Lc and La of the graphite sheets were significantly affected by sort of acids and ultrasonic treatment time. In case of hydrogen storage capacity, total capacities were enhanced after ultrasonic-assisted acid treatments, and it was found that strong acid treatments led higher capacities than those of weak acids. It was indicated that strong acids assisted by ultrasonic were more easily intercalated and expanded between graphite sheets, resulting in higher hydrogen storage capacity of the graphites. |
