Amine-benzoquinone functional groups are known to have excellent corrosion protection ability due to the high affinity to the surface metals. To improve the anti-corrosion of organic-inorganic hybrid coatings, 2,5-bis(3-(triethoxysilyl)propylamino)-1,4-benzoquinone (TPBQ) was synthesized and grafted onto the surface of haollysite nanotubes (HNTs). After loading of corrosion inhibitor (benzotriazole) in HNTs, zirconia-organosilane sol mix was prepared by varying the amount of TPBQ from 5 to 25 phr. Sol mix was dip-coated on Al plate and then thermally cured at 130 ℃ for 1 h. The corrosion behaviors of the samples were analyzed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and salt-spray test. From the EIS results, it is confirmed that impedances of the coatings with 25 phr of TPBQ did not change until 50 days in 0.5 M NaCl electrolyte. However, impedances of samples coated with 5 and 15 phr of TPBQ decreased at the low frequency after 28 days and 43 days, respectively. |
