Organic photovoltaic cell (OPVs) have attracted considerable attention in recent years because of their advantage of low cost, flexibility and fabrication by solution process. Combination of an electron-donating (D) unit with electron-accepting (A) unit along the polymer backbone is primary approach to achieve many attractive D-A alternating copolymer. Thus, energy level, absorption bandgap, and hole mobility can be easily tuned for ideal photovoltaic devices. A quinacridone derivative, which is known as a red-violet pigment, has an ordered structure, self-assembled characteristics and high hole mobility. A quinoxaline moiety acts as strong acceptors due to the presence of two imine nitrogen atoms, which has ethylhexyloxy chains(EH) for solubility. In this study, we synthesized D-A type copolymer using quinacridone as the donating unit with EH-quinoxaline as the acceptor unit by Suzuki coupling reaction. This polymer is showed physical, optical, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties. |
