In the present work, a mesoporous silica material, SBA-15, has been modified with triphenyl phosphine (PPh3) via a dehydroxylation route using Grignard reagent. This new method gives not only the formation of a direct ºSi-C bond on the silica wall, which is much stronger in hydrolytic cleavage, but also attachment of various kinds of organic functional groups that are difficult to modify the silica surface via conventional post-grafting method. Iridium complex is successfully grafted to the SBA-15-PPh3, giving photo-luminescent property. The preparation method and physicochemical properties of the materials will be discussed. |
