Thermal Properties of Phosphate Glasses System for Barrier-ribs in PDP |

The display industry has been rapidly developed for an information-oriented society based on the digital technology. Many studies about component materials are in progress to replace commercial materials with innovated materials for low cost and high quality of products. In spite of poor chemical durability and hydration, lead free glass compositions, mainly phosphate based, have been recently in the limelight for application to electronic devices compared to other glass system because of low melting temperature, ultraviolet transmission, thermal expansion coefficients and an eco-friendly material. In this study, thermal properties of a P2O5-ZnO-B2O3 ternary glass system were mainly investigated for application to barrier-ribs in PDP using a differential thermal analyzer, a thermo mechanical analyzer and a hot stage microscope. The glass forming region and thermal properties such as glass transition temperature and surface tension were determined. Our results can provide the basic data for application to barrier-ribs in PDP with phosphate glasses. |
