Synthesis and Characterization of an Aminopropyl Imidazolium Iodide for Application of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

Novel ionic liquids based on acetyl imidazolium iodide named as APII-(BM1, BP1, HM1, HP1, HM2, HP2)(APIIs) were synthesized and used as electrolytes in dye-sensitized solar cells. The synthesized APIIs are viscous liquid state. These electrolytes have characteristics of an intra- or inter molecular hydrogen bonding interaction through its urea bonds. And thermogravimetric analysis showed good thermal stability. Among the six APII based electrolytes, APII-HP1 showed a maximum photo-conversion efficiency of 7.31%. In addition, the performance of the DSSCs were much stable than other conventional liquid type electrolytes. |
