Bridged polysilsesquioxanes are family of hybrid organic-inorganic materials prepared by sol-gel processing of monomers that contain a variable organic bridging group and two or more trifunctional silyl groups. The organic group covalently attached to the trifunctional silicon groups through Si-C bonds can be varied in length, rigidity, geometry of substitution, and functionality. Because the organic group remains an integral component of the material, this variability provides an opportunity to modulate bulk properties such as porosity, thermal stability, optical clarity, chemical resistance. In this study, we have synthesized the bridged polysilsesquioxanes(BPS) with thiol groups which were reduced from BPS having disulfide groups under the Dithiothreitol (DTT). Caprolactone was polymerized by the BPS as an initiator through the ring-opening polymerization. The characteristics of polycaprolactone were confirmed by H-NMR, TGA, FT-IR, DSC, and SEM. |
