제목 Dynamic simulation for catalyst decomposition in the hydroformylation
초록 Hydroformylation, also known as the oxo process, refers to the catalyzed conversion of olefin, carbon monoxide and hydrogen to an aldehyde(normal or iso form). When the olefin is propylene, it is changed into butyraldehyde. In two isomers of butyraldehyde, the normal form is more desirable commercially. Since the valuable 2-ethylhexanol is only made of normal form. The most important factor to increase regioselectivity is the amount of TPPTS(triphenylphosphinetrisulfate). If TPPTS is added sufficiently, normal/iso ratio can reached up to 12:1.
On operation of real process the TPPTS is poisoned or leaks from the reactor, so it makes regioselectivity lower. To improve regioselectivity, catalyst should be replaced periodically. It causes high operating cost.
The goal of this study is setting up the model of hydroformylation reactor and finding the optimal operating condition which reduces the cost of butyraldehyde production.
