제목 | Preparation and swelling behaviors of N-isopropylacrylamide/alginate semi- and full-IPN hydrogels using γ-ray irradiation |
초록 | The γ-ray irradiation is one of the valuable techniques for the modification of the chemical and physical properties of polymeric materials. Particularly, harmful chemicals such as an initiator or organic solvent are not needed during the polymerization, which can be simply modified. The main purpose of this work is to prepare semi- and full-interpenetrating network (IPN) hydrogels composed of a naturally occurring polysaccharide, alginate, and the NIPAAm using γ-ray irradiation and to evaluate the swelling behaviors of the semi- and full- of IPNs. The semi-IPN hydrogels were prepared after γ-ray irradiation due to the polymerization and self-crosslink of the NIPAAm, whereas the full-IPN hydrogels were formed immersing the semi-IPN film into the calcium ion solution. In the experiment, the thermal stability of IPN hydrogels was investigated using a TGA. The swelling behaviors were measured in the equilibrium state and the pulsatile pattern depending on the external stimulus such as the pH and temperature. In addition, the swelling and deswelling kinetics for semi- and full-IPN hydrogels were studied under the various pH and temperature stimuli. |
