제목 Preparation and physical properties of Starch/PVA Nano-composite films
초록 Recently, synthetic plastics are used widely in various fields, and with increased applications, disposal of waste plastics has become a serious problem. Therefore, development of novel plastics that are degradable by microorganisms in soil has recently been attracting much attention. In this study, starch/PVA nanocomposite films were prepared by using corn starch, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), nano-sized copolymer particles and additives which are harmless to the human body, that is, glycerol (GL), xylitol (XL), tartaric acid (TA), and citric acid (CA). Nano-sized copolymer particles, i.e., poly(methyl methacrylate-co-acrylamide) (PMMA-co-AAM) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were synthesized by the method of emulsion polymerization. The morphology of PMMA-co-AAM and PMMA nanoparticles were observed by the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Also, the morphology and the physical properties such as tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (%E), degree of swelling (DS) and solubility (S) of the films were investigated. The thermal analysis of films was measured by using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC).
