Silk fibroin reserved in the silk grand in full-grown larvae of the silkworm is an aqueous solution. However, silk fiber, which solidified through spinning process by silkworm, is difficult to dissolve due to its strong resistance of chemicals. The dissolution of silk fibroin is important from the practical viewpoint of application for high performance fiber and non-textile application such as medical suture, artificial skin, matrix for drug delivery. However, the solution properties of A. pernyi silk fibroin solution have not been reported because of the lack of dissolution method. In this study, A. pernyi silk solution was prepared by dissolving silk fiber and the effect of temperature and solvent on the solution properties of tussah silk fibroin solution was investigated. |
