In this study, we investigated the effect of sodium ions on the cellular behavior upon incorporation into the calcium phosphate films synthesized on solid surfaces since the sodium ions plays a significant roles in physiological mechanisms. The sodium-incorporated calcium phosphate films were prepared at different concentrations. The topological variation due to the presence of sodium ions was observed using SEM. The physical and chemical properties were analyzed using XPS, XRD, and FTIR. Dependent of the concentration of sodium ions, the crystalline properties varied. In order to examine the biological functions of the prepared films, we conducted cellular assays, such as adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. As a result, cells rapidly adhered to the sodium-incorporated calcium phosphate films indicating the presence of sodium ions greatly affects cellular behavior on the calcium phosphate films. |
