Graphene–polymer composites have recently emerged as new functional materials that can fulfill recent demand of transparent and flexible components for various electronic and optical applications because of their excellent and intriguing properties. These device applications are greatly dependent on the solubility and homogeneous distribution of graphene. In this study, we demonstrate a simple but efficient method to disperse reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified with block copolymer at high concentrations in wide variety of organic solvents. The resulting polymer modified rGO shows excellent solubility, stability and yields significantly higher graphene concentrations as high as 1.2 mg ml-1. The morphology of modified rGO was studied by atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, which reveal a sandwich-like nanostructure. Our strategy provides new opportunities for functionalization, scalable manufacturing of graphene based nanocomposites, and electronic devices. |
