Chitosan is an attractive biomaterial due to its biocompatibility and degradability. Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is a representative polymer with thermosensitivity around 32℃. Chitosan-based thermosensitive hydrogel was prepared by grafting N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) to water-soluble chitosan (WSC) using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as the initiator. Chitosan-g-NIPAAm copolymer possesses both biocompatibility and thermosensitive properties. In addition, biodegradable particulate system based on biodegradable polymers have been widely investigated as polymeric drug carriers. Therefore, the polymeric drug delivery system designed with these appropriate properties can be introduced to various delivery applications. In this study, the local delivery system using thermosensitive chitosan containing 5FU-loaded biodegradable particles was developed and the 5FU release behavior of this system has been investigated .
