Electrochemical synthesis, characterization, and electrochromic properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) |

Electrochromic devices utilizing conjugated polymers as electrochromic layers have gained increasing attention owing to their optical properties, fast switching times and contrast ratios. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) is an excellent material from its electrochromic properties, high conductivity and high stability in the doped form. A reversible color change between blue and colorless of PEDOT thin film was observed when appropriate potential cycling applied repeatedly to the indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates which were sandwiched with polymer electrolytes. Characterizations of the resulting insoluble polymer were performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), UV–Vis Spectroscopy. Spectro electrochemistry, electrochromic switching and open circuit stability of the devices were studied. |
