Ultra-thin polymer films containing metal/metal complex have been prepared by vacuum codeposition of metal/metal complex and organic monomer or macromolecular prepolymer onto the substrate to achieve not only the individual dispersion of metal atoms/metal complex molecules in the polymer matrix but also to obtain ultra-thin polymer films. In the in-situ UV photopolymerization cobalt powder/cobalt(II) meso-tetraphenylporphyrin(CoTPP), which is capable of binding oxygen molecule, and poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate/trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate/tripropylene glycol diacrylate/trimethylolpropane triacrylate were used as comonomers to obtain metal/metal complex containing UV-polymerized thin films. The resulting films had a strong capability of reversibly biding oxgen, which might indicate that the molecule-scale dispersion of chemically reactive metal complex was obtained in the highly crosslinked in-situ UV-polymerized thin films. |
