In this study, we report a fabrication of free-standing multilayered thin films using the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) assembly deposition method, which allows us to characterize the composition and physical properties of such polymer multilayers in more detail. Polymer multilayers based on the hydrogen bonding between a given polymer pair have been prepared by both dipping and spin deposition methods and their composition and thermal behavior were obtained as a function of the number of bilayers using TGA and DSC. It is noted that the introduction of hydrophobic moieties in the polyelectrolytes facilitates the peel-off from many different types of substrates, yielding free-standing multilayers and also creates surface structure above the critical bilayer thickness. |
