Cesium-137 fission caused by the biological half-life is longer, when absorbed in the body, such as a cancer-causing gene or a variant of human health. Nanoporous and mesoporous materials including zeolite, activated carbon and carbon nanotubes have been widely applied for the removal of cesium. However, an efficient adsorbent with higher adsorption capacity and faster kinetics should be developed. In this work, polyyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based Prussian blue(PB) composite nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning method and characterized by SEM, EDS and TG/DTA analysis. Adsorption isotherm data of cesium ions on electrospun Prussian blue were obtained at different temperatures (10 ℃, 30 ℃, and 50 ℃) and fitted with isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich and Sips equations. It was found from experimental and theoretical results that the electrospun prussian blue nanofibers can be successfully applied for the removal of cesium ions. |
