Photo voltaic cells are one key technology for solving energy problems. The derivatives of PPV, P3AT and copolymers of fluorene-thiophen-benzothiadiazole have been attracted due to their good optical and electrochemacal properties. Lower Eg values also result in enhanced thermal population of the HOMO energy level, thus increasing the number of intrinsic charge carriers. We synthesize Donor-Acceptor type monomer, which is derivative of thiophene and benzothiadiazole. Also, we synthesize polymers with low band gap (or wide absorption) and HOMO energy level for enhancement of incident photon conversion efficiency (IPCE) by the Suzuki coupling reaction. The optical and electrochemical properties were obtained by the UV-Vis, PL and CV. Also, we measured photovoltaic properties of the devices based on the blend of new polymers and PCBM. In this presentation, synthesis, optical, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties of the polymers will be discussed. |
