Polyimides have shown excellent thermal and electrical properties, and widely been utilized in microelectronic, energy and aerospace industry. Organic-inorganic hybrids are an important class of new generation materials which combine the desirable properties of a ceramic phase and organic polymers. Especially, the hybrid materials prepared by the sol-gel method have become one of the most promising research areas in material sciences. However, the immiscibility between organic and inorganic materials may lead to the phase separation in the resultant hybrid films. In this study, polyimde/modified-silica hybrids were prepared using the sol-gel method. The inorganic materials were coated with a thin layer of polymers containing abundant of amine and hydroxyl functional groups which can interconnect with the polyimide chains. The microstructure and physical properties of the films will be characterized |
