Branched macromolecules are powerful motifs for the design of supramolecular assemblies and nanomaterials due to their specific shape and multifunctionality. Cyclodextrins (CD) are a series of cyclic oligosaccharides composed of six, seven and eight glucose units called α-, β-, and γ-CD, respectively. We herein report the synthesis of cyclodextrin-based hyperbranched polymers from natural cyclodextrins by the ring-opening polymerization of glycidol under slow monomer addition technique. The obtained polymers had relatively narrow molecular weight distribution, and molecular weight ranged from 6000 to 20000g/mol. Therefore these polymers belonged to a new family of modified receptors can be applied in many areas. |
