제목 Surface Induced Ferroelectric PVDF Thin films for Nonvolatile Memory
초록 Information storage devices fabricated from ferroelectric polymers such as poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) have drawn a great attraction due to their potential use in non-volatile memory technology. Several crystalline structures are found in PVDF known as a, β, and γ. Among the three crystalline forms, α crystal is primarily produced from the melt, even though β and γ form are the most important polymorph with outstanding intrinsic ferroelectric properties. It is critical to find the ways to transform non-polar a crystals into the useful ferroelectric β and γ ones. We investigated the control of contact surface energy driven polymorphic transition of PVDF by using plasma treated PDMS. The localized regions contacted by a plasma treated PDMS mold turn into polar γ type structure over PVDF melting temperature. The surface induced polymorphic phase transition was evidenced by the remnant polarization, coercive voltage, AFM, P-E loop, GIRAS and GIXD.
