Preparation and spectroscopic characterization of O-Carboxymethyl chitosan |

O-Carboxymethylchitosan (OCMCh) is a kind of biocompatible derivatives of chitosan whose water solubility is strongly dependent on the degree of carboxymethylation. The carboxymethylation of a chitosan of molecular mass (20 kDa) and deacetylation degree (95.8%) introduced 0.96 O-Carboxymethyl groups per repeating unit. The structure were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC (Heteronuclear Multiple Quantum Correlation), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Degree of substitution (DS) of OCMCh was determined by 1H-NMR. |
