Improved Through-plane Thermal Conductivity of Magnetically aligned h-BN/Polymer composite films |

Recently, heat generation has caused serious problems in performance and operation in electronic devices. However, current technology for increasing the amount of high thermal conductive inorganic filler is limited to simple blending. Simple blending technology in film production is limited to the amount of the filler and it is difficult to control the direction of the filler. Thus, The introduction of new technology is needed. In this study, thermally conductive polyimide (PI) based polymer composite films and magnetically aligned hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) filler were prepared by a casting method. Hydroxy groups on h-BN surface facilitate the attachment of iron oxide by van der waals attraction and the resulting h-BN particles can be aligned under magnetic field. It was confirmed that the through-plane thermal diffusivity was changed with the magnetic realignment of fillers. |
