Photocatalysts have been applied to reduce various organic materials by converting light energy into chemical potential.Photocatalytic activity is generally evaluated in two ways, which are dissolved transition metal complexes, suspended semiconductor powders, and thin films in contact with gaseous or dissolved substrates. When comparing these reactivities, rate constants are only reported and used for the evaluation of each activity. However, this is not proper comparison for various photoreaction including homo- or heterogeneous, and isothermal or non-isothermal.In this study, metal doped or coupled TiO2 nanoparticle samples were directly synthesized or coated on substrate and their activities were evaluated in standardized way. Also as-synthesized samples were tested for the degradation of various VOCs under UVLED light in non-isothermal conditions. This evaluation method is different from general evaluation method(KS etc.) but need to be considered for the proper comparison under various light source. The evaluation method is required for the justification of enhancement of newly-synthesized materials for filter media, air purifies, and other gaseous pollutant reduction. |
