Composites of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were synthesized by in-situ dispersion polymerization. Prior to the synthesis, the MWNT was treated with a strong acid while the ultrasonic treatment was being applied to cut it. Formation of new C-C bond between MWNT and PMMA was confirmed by a FT-IR. Morphology of the synthesized PMMA in the presence of the MWNT of the MWNT/PMMA composite was examined by both SEM and TEM.
