Polysaccharide conjugated cyclodextrin complexes as a sustained drug delivery system |

In recent years, much attention has been focused on the investigation of self-assembled supramolecular system based on cyclodextrin (CyD), naturally occurring water-soluble oligosaccharides. The ability of CyD to form unique inclusion complexation, with various small molecules like drugs and polymers, have been widely exploited in the pharmaceutical for the development of stable and sustained release formulations. In the present work, polysaccharide conjugated CyD was synthesized and characterized using 1H-NMR. Their complexation behavior with PEGylated protein was studied using PEG-human growth hormone (hGH) as a model protein. The complex was further cross-linked using Micheal type addition reaction. The drug release profile from both the cross-linked and uncross linked system was evaluated. |
