We investigated the array of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on silica nano-features (Si NFs) fabricated from block copolymer (BCP) templates. To produce Si NFs of either posts or lines, the thin films of asymmetric polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinlypyridine) copolymer (PS-b-P2VP) solvent-annealed in chloroform vapor were firstly used. After surface reconstruction of thin films of PS-b-P2VP, poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) was back-filled in the porous BCP thin films and converted to silica by oxygen plasma treatment. Then, gold nanoparticles that were synthesized from BCP micelles prepared on the Si NFs were decorated around posts or lines of silica. By immersing the gold/silica nano-patterns into dilute aqueous hydrogen fluoride (HF) solution which can selectively remove silica, the unique array of gold nanoparticles spatially regulated was obtained. |
