New Approach to a Homogeneous Morphology for Highly Efficient Bulkheterojunction Polymer Solar Cells |

During the last decades, the bulkheterojucntion (BHJ) polymer solar cells (PSCs) have been intensively studied with the efficiencies of PSCs exceeding 6 %. Recently, however, it has been revealed that the performance of PSCs is also correlated to the morphology of components in the BHJ system and particularly the morphology which is obtained by a conventional casting method is not considered as an ideal system for achieving high efficiency: the conventional morphology causes the recombination of the generated charge carriers due to an energy barrier at the donor and acceptor interface, resulting in the reduction of a photovoltaic performance, such as fill factor and current density. Therefore, in order to achieve high efficiency of PSCs, a homogeneous morphology in the BHJ film should be required because the improved charge carrier transfer and the minimized recombination of the charge carriers is expected. |
