In this paper, we use a simple hydrothermal method for preparing one-dimensional MnO2 nanowires as energy rechargeable supercapacitor electrodes. MnO2 nanowires show excellent electrochemical properties due to their high surface area and fast electron transfer. MnO2 nanowires are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller measurements. Electrochemical characteristics of the MnO2 nanowire electrode are evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge/discharge under a three-electrode system. The MnO2 nanowire electrodes show a high specific capacitance of 129 F/g, a high rate capability of 61% retention, and excellent cycle life of 100% during 1000 cycles. |
