Effects of Networked Silica on Fatigue Crack Growth Rate of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer |

In this study, the fatigue crack growth characteristics of EPDM compounds using networked silica were studied. In the networked silica, silica particles are linked by TESPT, in order to elevate reactivity between rubber chain and silica particles. EPDM compound has a power law relationship between the crack growth and the tearing energy (dc/dn = aTβ). The fatigue crack growth of networked silica and conventional silica filled EPDM were compared, and a retardation effect on both fatigue crack growth rate were observed. The morphology of fatigue crack growth surface of EPDM compound is also presented. |
