제목 | Effect of initiator and inhibitor on the precoating of MMA on UHMWPE powder |
초록 | We precoated MMA to the surface of UHMWPE powder prior to use it into commercial bone cement. To precoat it’s surface, MMA free radical polymerization was performed. But for free radical polymerization is performed in a short time, we didn’t get the desired properties. To control the sharp reaction, first we examined the result after addition different hydroquinone (inhibitor) contents. Second, BPO is heat initiator for preparing radical to precoat MMA monomer through the surface of UHMWPE powder. For BPO plays a important roles for the initiation of free radical polymerization, we examinated it’s influence. SEM, FTIR-ATR, UTM were utilized to analyze the mechanical properties of the modified bone cement. In conclusion, The maximum tensile strength of our experiment was hydroquinone / BPO to 300ppm : 0.75wt%. And, tensile strength of surface coated UHMWPE impregnated bone cement was better than commercial PMMA bone cement.
