제목 | The effects of some additives on the mechanical properties of commercial bone cement |
초록 | Since PMMA bone cement for the prosthetic fixation was introduced by Chanley, it has been used for fixation of the bone and the metal (Mo-Cr-Co alloys). But there are some problems like thermal necrosis of bone and prosthetic loosening and a lot of methods such as addition of inorganic additives, calcium phosphate, and gamma-irradiation to overcome these problems. In this study, we added UHMWPE and some additives such as hydroquinone to PMMA bone cements to overcome these disadvantages and enhance the mechanical properties of bone cements. SEM, FTIR-ATR, XRD, UTM were utilized to analyze the mechanical properties of the modified bone cement.
