There are many efforts to improve the productivity of styrene monomer production plants. But most of them are focused on improvement of the recovery section or the other equipments except the reactor and development of new dehydrogenation catalyst. The dehydrogenation reactor section is not considered because the experiment and the mathematical modeling of the radial-flow reactor are very difficult. The study about the reactor operating conditions is very important because the styrene monomer productivity is affected by the reactor. In this study, a mathematical model for an adiabatic radial-flow styrene monomer reactor based on the chemical kinetics has been analyzed via computer simulation to exam important decision variables. Finally, new operating strategies have been proposed to maximize the productivity. |
