Due to the need for high-strength transparent materials in the automobile industry, transparent composites using glass fibers/thermosetting polymers are being attempted. Each material has high transparency, but the severe problem is that clarity is lost when manufactured as composites due to a significant difference in refractive index. In this study, various curing agents were used to control the refractive index of the matrix to make both materials similar. The thermal and optical properties of the composites were investigated with a differential scanning calorimeter and lens refractometer, respectively. As a result, the developed composites exhibited advanced optical transparency(≥70% @ 550 nm), being thinkable to be enough applied to transparent electronic and automotive devices. |
