The offensive odor produced from indoor dust accumulated inside a vacuum cleaner makes users unpleasant. Therefore in this paper, the conditions where stench occurs and impact odorous compounds were investigated, and then the method to remove the bad smell was suggested. In consideration of smell characteristic, whether the stink from dust samples prepared in various conditions occurs was confirmed by olfactory sensory method. The intensity of offensive odor of the dust collected inside a vacuum cleaner increases in proportion to not only the humidity and temperature of the dust inside it but also cleaning period of the container where indoor dust remains. The sort of aldehyde is detected as impact odorous compounds by instrumental analysis and threshold of the stench was examined. |
