Effects of ZnSO4-modified photoelectrodes on the photovoltaic properties of dye-sensitized solar cells |

The TiO2/FTO electrodes were treated with an aqueous ZnSO4 solution, and the resulting electrodes were applied to the photoelectrodes of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). When the concentration of ZnSO4 solution was 50mM, the modification of the photoelectrode surface led to an enhancement in open-circuit voltage(Voc) and a reduction in the short-circuit current(Jsc) value, thereby decreasing the overall power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the DSSC, compared to that of reference device. However, by the 10-fold dilution(5mM) of the ZnSO4 solution, the Jsc values were almost maintained, and a slight increase in the Voc values was observed. Overall, about 5% enhancement in PCE was achieved in the device with ZnSO4(5mM)-treated photoelectorde. |
