Effect of DBP Sponge and Nucleus Pulposus for Tissue Engineering Biodisc |

Objective: One of the significant natural bioactive materials is demineralized bone particle (DBP) whose has a powerful inducer of new bone and cartilage tissue specialization. Method: We isolated NP cells from the spine of New Zealand white rabbit (female, 3-4 weeks). DBP sponges prepared by crosslinking with EDC. morphology of scaffolds were characterized by SEM. Cellular viability and proliferation were assayed by MTT test. Result and Conclusion: In MTT assay result, DBP sponges were higher cell viability. In SEM observation, we observed that DBP sponge has uniform porosity. We confirmed that the morphology of DBP sponges were highly porous with good interconnections between each pores, which can support the surface of cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. This result indicates that DBP sponge is useful for intervertebral disc regeneration. Acknowledgement: This research was supported by KMOHW (0405-BO01-0204-0006) and SCRC (SC3100). |
