Cobalt oxide as highly efficient electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction |

The development of inexpensive, stable and highly active electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution is essential to the practical application of water splitting. Herein, we synthesized electrodeposited cobalt oxide on nickel foam. The main aim is to evaluate the performance of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) for cobalt oxide thin film. In depth characterization for the films using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron emission spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and liner sweep voltammetry (LSV) techniques, which shows for their structural, morphological, compositional and electrochemical properties. Cobalt oxide electrocatalyst shows excellent activity and robust stability for OER in 1 M KOH electrolyte. The Cobalt oxide thin film shows high catalytic activity with 340 mV overpotential at 10 mA/cm2 with 92 mV/dec1 Tafel slope. |
