Aromatic rings are widely used in medicinal chemistry. Based on the fact that a phenyl ring is known to have a good binding affinity with a ß-cyclodextrin (CD), the phenyl ring has used for a guest molecule of an inclusion complex with various CDs to enhance blood circulation time and deliver to the target site. However, there are other binding sites when inclusion complexes that having a phenyl ring are injected intravenously in vivo, such as human serum albumin (HSA). Herein, we synthesized gadolinium chelates functionalized with phenyl ring that made inclusion complexes with PEGylated β-cyclodextrins (CDs). We investigated differences of relaxivities and the binding constants depending on the formation of inclusion complex and compared with HSA. |
