We designed N-(2-aminophenyl)-8-mercaptooctanamide-modifed gold nanoparticles (NAM-AuNPs) for the detection of nitric oxide (NO) by inducing aggregation of gold. NO, a radical gas molecules, has various biological functions. The function of NO is mainly controlled by NO concentration. Up to now, numerous researches on nitric oxide sensors have been reported based on electrochemical method, fluorescence, and absorbance. We focused on the colorimetric sensor because of easy access, simple synthesis. Owing to AuNPs having its unique surface plasmon resonsance, we devloped selective and sensitive NO sensor. Amide-substituted benzotriazole intermediate was formed by the reaction between NO and NAM, induced gold aggregation via electrostatic interaction. NAM-AuNPs was enabled to analyze the amount of NO. In addition, color change of AuNPs as increased concentration of NO was easily identified. The present study demonstrated that NAM-AuNPs has a potential as a promising colorimetric sensor. |
