Recently, conjugated polymers have attracted much attention because of their potential applications such as organic light emitting diodes, organic field effect transistor, organic photovoltaic cell, and chemical sensors. Conjugated polymers, especially, were used for sensory materials due to large signal amplification by trace amount of analytes. In this study, we will describe the synthesis and characterization of novel water-soluble conjugated polymer with sulfonate side chains and hydroxyphenyl-benzoxazole group for excited state intramolecular transfer (ESIPT) in the main chain. The hydroxyphenylbenzoxazole group in the main chain of the polymer has a binding capacity, especially fluoride anion, and fluorescence change was observed upon the addition of F- in the aqueous solution. |
