Bi- and tri-functional periodic mesoporous organosilicas composed of phenylene-, thiophene-, and ethylene-bridging groups were synthesized using 1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTEE), 1,4-bis(tri-ethoxysilyl)benzene (BTEB), and 2,5-bis(triethoxysilyl)thiophene (BTET) organosilica precursors and a poly(ethylene oxide)–poly(DL-lactic acid-co-glycolic acid)–poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO–PLGA–PEO) triblock copolymer template under low acidic conditions. Large surface areas and pore volumes were obtained using a nitrogen absorption-desorption analyzer, and an extensive quantitative analysis of the organic components inside the mesoporous framework walls was carried out employing solid state 29Si MAS NMR measurements to resolve the relative quantities of the different organic moieties and the structural pattern of the silica-carbon linkage. |
