Water splitting and CO2 reduction have gotten great attention as a potential renewable means to produce chemical fuels from abundant and sustainable natural resources. However, the overall performances are often limited by problems of catalysts such as slow kinetics, low selectivity, and poor stability. In this talk, I will introduce some recent our efforts to provide novel approaches to improve catalytic performance for the water splitting and CO2 reduction reactions. For water splitting, we demonstrated dual-functional catalysts based on Fe-porphyrin encapsulated Fe-MOF systems. For CO2 reduction reactions, we controlled the selectivity in C2 production by systematic tuning of morphologies of the nanostructured Cu meshes. |
