Conducting polymers (CPs) is a distinguishable class of organic semiconducting materials that can achieve high electrical conductivity and unique electrochemical behaviors in addition to their inherent advantages including light weight, processability, and low cost. In this work, we report syntheses and applications of various conducting composites through the solution processes. The conducting composites composed of CPs, metal oxides and graphene sheeets have been designed to maximize the advantages of each material and to minimize the disadvantages of each material. As transducers in chemical sensors, the conducting composites combined with metal oxides or graphene sheets provide enhanced sensitivity and improved selectivity toward various chemical species. As active materials in supercapacitors, the conducting composites can benefit from both electrostatic and electrochemical energy storages. |
