In vitro study to the biocompatibility of poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel for Articular Cartilage Replacement |
초록 |
Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) have been proposed as promising biomaterials to replace diseased or damaged articular cartilage. Biodegradable polymers are limited by poor bioactivity, weak mechanical properties, and inflammation produced by acidic byproducts. Otherwise, Non-degradable PVA hydrogel is a hydrophilic, biocompatible and transparent hydrogel with physical strength gives a rise to the material for an articular cartilage replacement. A porous structure with well inter-connected pores is required not only to achieve sufficient cell seeding density within the scaffold, but also to facilitate transport of nutrients and oxygen for subsequent cell proliferation and differentiation. This study aims at the new fabrication method of porous PVA Hydrogel(PVA) and immobilization of type I collagen(Col) onto PVA (PVA-Col) to improve cell seeding density, adhesion, viability, and proliferation of chondrocyte. |
