Poly (1,4-cyclohexanedimethyl isosorbide terephthalate) copolymers were synthesized by melt condensation, with various content of corn derived monomer, isosorbide. Since poly (1,4-cyclohexanedimethyl terephthalate) has disadvantageous processing thermal property with high melting temperature, ISB could be used to control Tg and Tm simultaneously. Increased content of ISB can increase the Tg and lower the Tm by effecting crystallization behavior and structural property of PCT. The detailed structure was analyzed with correlation spectroscopy and heteronuclear single-quantum correlation spectroscopy. 13C-NMR spectrum was used for sequence distribution and from these results, the effect of ISB-TPA dyad on thermal property was revealed. Solid state CPMAS NMR was used to compare the free space of an atom due to environment dependent relaxation behavior in which determines whether ISB is excluded from crystal structure or not. |
