제목 PREPARATION OF LUMINESCENT DISCOTIC LIQUID CRYSTAL USING SIMPLE HYDROGEN BONDING
초록 The continued dominance of LCDs in the flat panel display is now being challenged by rapid improvements in organic light emitting display (OLED). Most OLEDs are made of several layers; hole transporting layer, emitting layer, and electron transporting layer. In order to reduce the number of layers in OLEDs, many studies have aimed to introduce the luminescent property to liquid crystals because they show good charge mobility.
We synthesized emitting material, 4-(4-(3,4,5-trialcoxystyryl)styryl)pyridine, and then prepared a discotic liquid crystal complex (DLC) of 4-(4-(3,4,5-trialcoxystyryl)styryl)pyridine and benzene-1,3,5-triol by hydrogen bonding which is a powerful tool to make supramolecular structures. Most DLC compounds are composed of a disc-like aromatic core surrounded by several alkyl or alkoxy chains. When they are arranged to form columnar structure, hole or electron mobility along the column axis increases considerably. Characterization of DLC was done by NMR, DSC, IR and XRD. And then properties of photoluminescence and electroluminescence was measured.
