Renewable Source of Phenols from Eucalyptus Wood for Enhanced Oil Recovery |
초록 |
Renewable source of phenolic compounds from Eucalyptus wood is being investigated for its potential use as a substitute in the development of chemicals for enhanced oil recovery. The pyrolysis of Eucalyptus wood for the recovery of phenolic compounds was studied in an externally heated 5cm diameter, 30cm high fluidized-bed fast pyrolysis reactor with nitrogen as the fluidization gas and silica sand as the bed material. The test was carried out at 18 LPM of nitrogen flow rate and the reactor operating temperature was maintained at 450°C for maximum oil yield. Results showed that the maximum oil product was found at 58 wt% of dry Eucalyptus wood feed. The pyrolitic oil was subjected to GCMS and FTIR spectroscopy tests for its detailed chemical composition. The chemical composition of the pyrolytic comprised of mainly phenolic compounds, carboxylic acids and aldehydes. The phenolic compounds were further separated from the pyrolytic oil by liquid-liquid extraction using alkali and organic solvent. Analyses showed that the liquid was found to contain a very high concentration of phenol and its derivatives, approximate 56 wt% of total liquid oil. |
