Epoxysilanes are widely used as adhesives for inorganic-organic hybrid materials. They have advantages on heat resistance, optical characteristics, and so on. The epoxidation of alkenylsilanes was carried out using concentrated hydrogen peroxide-acetonitrile, 35 wt % hydrogen peroxide-acetonitrile with fluoro-catalyst, and tert-butyl hydroperoxide-molybdenum catalyst. Alkenylsilanes include acyclic alkenylsilanes such as vinyltrimethoxysilane, allyltrimethoxysilane, allyltrimethylsilane, and 7-octenyltrimethylsilane and cyclic alkenylsilanes such as 2-cyclopentenyltrimethoxysilane, 3-cyclohexenyltrimethylsilane, and bicyclo[2,2,1]hept-5-en-2-yltrimethyl-silane. In this presentation, we will discuss about the reactivity of alkenylsilanes depending upon the regiochemical relationship between the alkene group and the silyl substituent of acyclic and cyclic alkenylsilanes with hydrogen peroxide and tert-butyl hydroperoxide. |
